Team USA Downs China 9-5 On Day Two Of FINA World League Super Finals

Kirishi, Russia - It was another strong outing for the Women's Senior National Team as they downed China 9-5 on day two of the FINA World League Super Final in Kirishi, Russia. Kami Craig scored twice and Betsey Armstrong stopped 11 shots in the victory.

Team USA and China got off to an even start ending the first period tied at 2-2. USA received scores from Craig and Kelly Rulon who scored on a player advantage. In the second stanza Team USA started to distance themselves from the Chinese as they pitched a shutout on defense and got scores from Lauren Wenger and Erika Figge. 

Coming out of the half up 4-2, the United States continued to build again scoring China scoreless while adding three tallies of their own. Rulon and Craig would score again, while Annika Dries found the net out of two meters for a 7-2 USA advantage. In the fourth China rebounded with three goals, but USA countered with two of their own from Wenger and Tanya Gandy to come away with the 9-5 victory.

USA went 3/5 for player advantages while China was 4/7. China also failed to convert on their lone penalty shot. Team USA is back in action tomorrow when they take on the host country Russia.
