WATER POLO: Australia Defeats USA 11-9 In Final Match Of Five Game Test Series

January 15, 2008 TEAM USA FALLS TO AUSTRALIA 11-9 IN FINAL MATCH OF FIVE GAME TEST SERIES Team USA and Australia got together for the final time in a five game test series in Australia and for the fifth straight time Australia came away unbeaten as they defeated the USA 11-9. The game which took place in Sydney saw Team USA lead by two tallies midway through the second period. That would be short lived however as a 7-5 USA lead was changed to a 9-7 Australia lead at the half. In the third quarter it was more of the same as Australia opened up an 11-8 lead before Alison Gregorka found the net to draw within two at 11-9. No more scoring would come after that and the contest ended in that 11-9 final. Erika Figge, Lauren Wenger, and Jessica Steffens all hit for two scores in the losing effort.
