WATER POLO: Kai Palchikoff Named USA Water Polo's Director of Regional Sport Development - West

Huntington Beach, Calif.-January 10, 2007-Kai Palchikoff, Chair of the Coastal California Zone and a veteran referee has been named Director of Sport Development-West by USA Water Polo CEO Christopher Ramsey. In this role Palchikoff will continue to help expand the sport of water polo in the western region of the United States along with developing new initiative for water polo growth. Additionally Palchikoff will stay on in his role as Zone Chair to help manage the transition to a new leader for Coastal California. Palchikoff brings a wealth of experience to the position both in and out of the water polo world. Serving as a Zone Chair since 2003 Palchikoff is a former ASUA rated and collegiate referee. He has spent time on the USA Water Polo Board of Directors and was a member of USAWP Standing Committees. Outside of water polo Palchikoff spent over 15 years with Sales and Biz Development serving in a variety of roles, was a member of the Los Angeles Olympic Organizing Committee for the 1984 Olympics, and has served as an event director for the US Triathlon Series and Isuzu NFL Quarterback Challenge."Kai brings a wealth of water polo and other professional experience to us as well as a passion for our game and for serving our membership. We are excited to have him on board,"said Ramsey. Palchikoff will be based out the USA Water Polo National Office in Huntington Beach, California. About USA Water Polo USA Water Polo, Inc. is the national governing body for water polo in America, overseeing our United States Olympic program as well as 20 different championship events annually, such as Junior Olympics and Masters Open Championships. With more than 35,000 members, USAWP is also the sanctioning authority for more than 400 tournaments nationwide. USAWP is committed to the development of the sport nationwide. It fosters grass-roots expansion of the sport, providing a national system of affiliated clubs, certified coaches and officials.
